We had a long day of driving today as we headed back to Reykjavik from the south coast. Late last week the Kafla volcano had a small eruption under the ice, and glacial meltwater rushed down and washed out the bridge on the highway. We were forced to alter our route somewhat and had to retreat through the highlands. Our photographic surprise for today were horses. There’s never a dull moment when these spunky little guys are around—they are truly a horse in a pony-sized package!
You’ve probably heard many photographers talk about getting shots during the “magic hour”, other people may call this “at sunset”. Learn how to get the best sunset photos, shot on location in Baja.

XRite Gets the scoop. Thank you Brenda Hipsher!
As you may have heard this weekend on the XRite Coloratti Blog, I am offering a new workshop experience in August in the Canadian Rockies. This photographic workshop is sure to be one of the most unique and special of the year. This is open to a maximum of only 4 participants. I will be assisted by a veteran colleague, Gavriel Jecan, and Chris Martin, an excellent Alberta photographer that knows this territory very well. You need only show up in Calgary, Alberta ready to begin the workshop on August 14th and we take care of all the rest.
Because the class size is so small, you may not find any more detail on our website describing this workshop, so please call for more information.
In Washington, call 206-332-0993 or toll free 888-973-0011.
If these dates don’t work and you are interested in taking a specialized small-group photographic workshop with Art Wolfe, give us a call and let’s design something.
Pandit Rajmani Tigunait’s story on the Kumbha Mela continues in the summer issue of Yoga International. Again, Art’s photos are featured in this personal journey into the world of sadhus and yogis and the collective consciousness.
*Yoga International is an award-winning, independent magazine that contemplates the deeper dimensions of spiritual life—exploring the power of yoga practice and philosophy to not only transform our bodies and minds, but inspire meaningful engagement in our society, environment, and the global community.
I want to commend the student photographers of the recent Zion National Park workshop. They should be very pleased with their results! Please take a look at this short piece I’ve narrated.
The search for clean energy and solutions to climate change is more critical than ever and innovation in this area must not be crippled by bipartisanship.
This class has become so popular, that we are now extending it for a third session. This is a unique workshop, don’t miss it!
It starts with a Bang! Welcome Reception at Art’s House on May 27th – 6pm to 8pm. Light appetizers & hors d’oeuvres. Then two days with Art fine tuning your vision.
Just listen to participant Carol Ann Morris if you need help making up your mind about this workshop:
I attended Art’s Composing Effective Images workshop in Seattle in January…it was just what I needed. If you’re thinking of doing it, just do it! His enthusiasm and passion for his art is so inspiring; the momentum he creates when he teaches pushes you to new heights. It is SO worth it. Right after the seminar, I signed up for his workshop on the Olympic Peninsula.
