The Human Canvas: Traditional Thai Tattoo – Images by Art Wolfe
Tattooing is an ancient art & in Thailand it started with Buddhist monks, who believed sacred texts gave them protection. Thai icons such as tigers are now very popular, but are not powerful unless they are surrounded by the proper mantras.

Myanmar Day 5 – Images by Art Wolfe
It was a full day of shooting at Myanmar’s broad and shallow Inle Lake. We took full advantage of the amazing light conditions to silhouette the fishermen and their pyramidal nets. We also were able to photograph a few Kayan (or Karen) women, particularly notable because of their elegant brass neck coils.
See our latest ad for Human Canvas in this month’s issue of B&W Magazine.
There are great articles of late photographers, Vivian Maier, Gary Winogrand and an interview with Ruth Bernhard. Pick up issue #96 today.
You can even order back issues, like Issue #93 with an article about my Human Canvas work.
