Checking in from the banks of the Chobe River in Botswana.

We had an excellent day today photographing from a boat. We did a lot of work on elephant and hippo, managing to get really close and then were lucky enough to see a leopardess and her cubs come down to drink in the middle of the day – very rare sighting. We got some great shots of the sunset with elephants that I had been visualizing since arrival and I actually pulled it off!

We have been “roughing it” at Sanctuary Retreat “camps” in both Zambia and Botswana and they have really looked after us well.

Japan WorkshopPart 2

BLOG: Fuji 2011 – Images by Art Wolfe

Here are some glimpses at what we are doing and seeing in Japan. Snow has been falling and contributing to the beauty of the landscape.
We concluded our visit to Yudanaka and the snow monkeys and began our trek to Kawaguchiko.
We arrived near Mt. Fuji with poor visibility, but awoke the next day with clear skies. This allowed beautiful blue skies by day and time-lapse shots showing star trails near evening.
Keep following.

India Photo Tour – Rajasthan

Blog: Rajasthan, India – Images by Art Wolfe

Rajasthan > Jodhpur > Manvar > Kichan > Thar Desert

On the last several days of our trip, we visited the region of Rajasthan and a small village near Manvar. Here is a glimpse of village life. Beautiful children and colorful homes show us the rich lives these people lead in the Thar desert.
I love the details they adorn their homes with and the roofs made from local materials.

On Location – Eastern Washington

Recently, I went with a couple friends out to Washington’s Palouse region.  It is an expansive landscape, full of sagelands, empty roads, and wheatfields—industrial agriculture at its most beautiful.

We decided to explore an old abandoned homestead, and were rewarded with a spectacular display of light and shadow in the attic. I try to look at the world with open eyes because you never know what you may find that has the potential to create an interesting photograph.

On Location – The Latest Imagery From Art

This past weekend I made a trip to the Olympic Peninsula and stopped at one of my favorite locations, Olympic National Park’s Lake Crescent.

Even in the rain forest fall colors are evident now.  The brilliant yellows of the maples contrast with the marine blue of the lake and the bright greens of the moss and ferns.
