In 2026, I’ll be leading a small number of photography workshops to some of the most inspiring places on Earth, and I’d love for you to join me. These journeys are designed for photographers who are passionate about wildlife, nature, and expanding both their technical skills and creative vision. I’ve spent decades in the field, and it’s a privilege to share what I’ve learned with others who are eager to grow. We keep the groups manageable to ensure everyone gets personalized attention, and we’ve taken care to choose comfortable accommodations and smooth logistics so you can stay focused on photography. If you’re looking for an experience that blends learning, adventure, and unforgettable imagery, I hope you’ll consider traveling with us. Spots are limited, and I’d be honored to have you along!
Step into the heart of the Serengeti. Capture dramatic scenes of wildebeest families in motion, apex predators on the hunt, and the untamed rhythms of African wildlife in its natural habitat.
Photograph playful snow macaques in steaming hot springs west of Tokyo, then head north to Hokkaido to capture ethereal Japanese cranes, elusive foxes, and the awe-inspiring stellar sea eagles.
Witness the raw intensity of Alaskan brown bears fishing for salmon in wild rivers—a front-row seat to one of the most iconic wildlife spectacles on Earth.
Explore surreal desert landscapes in Swakopmund, rugged wildlife regions in Damaraland and Etosha, and the cultural richness of Windhoek while photographing Namibia’s striking contrasts.
Venture deep into lush rainforests to photograph orangutans, proboscis monkeys, exotic birds, and rare jungle flora in one of the planet’s most biologically diverse ecosystems.

This fall, I’m inviting you to join me at one of three unforgettable locations across the U.S.—I’d love for you to be part of the adventure! These workshops are designed for photographers at every level who are eager to capture stunning landscapes, receive expert guidance, and connect with like-minded creatives. We’ll share not only powerful photography experiences, but also meaningful critique sessions and some truly memorable meals.
Each location offers its own unique magic. In Colorado, we’ll chase golden light through alpine passes as the aspen groves turn to fire. On the Olympic Peninsula, we’ll immerse ourselves in ancient moss-draped forests, waterfalls, and the misty moodiness that makes the Pacific Northwest so special. And in Arizona, you’ll photograph the striking contrast of autumn cottonwoods glowing against the sculpted red rock desert.
These are my only U.S. workshops until mid-2026, so if you’ve ever dreamed of learning directly from me, this is your chance. Whether it’s the crisp mountain air, the deep greens of Washington, or the bold desert tones of Arizona that call to you, I promise an inspiring and transformative experience.
As I look ahead to the coming year, I can’t help but get excited about this slate of upcoming international trips. Right out of the gate, I’ll be leading a tour in India to photograph Tigers as well as the Kumbh Mela. Unfortunately this trip is already sold out – however if adventure, wildlife, and the experience of a lifetime is something you’re interested in, I’m very excited about our Tanzania photo journey that kicks off March 5th. From the Serengeti to Ngorongoro Crater, this tour is sure to be full of opportunities – bring plenty of storage space for those photos!
Check out the complete list of upcoming international tours below. Please note that for trips with a sign-up form that have yet to be finalized, you’re not committed by signing up; however you will be given first opportunity to do so when additional details become available. I’ve listed sold-out tours as well and if you’re interested in one of these trips, contact us so we can keep you in mind in case of any cancelations.
I hope to see you on the road with me in the coming year!
2025 is shaping up to be another great year of travel! With planned trips to places like Egypt, Vietnam, Bhutan and much more, there’s bound to be something for everyone. Check out my events page for more information.
There are a number of workshops and photo tours that you can save a few hundred bucks on by purchasing in the early bird window – a window that closes this Monday, September 30th at midnight – sign up today, save some cash and join me on an adventure!
This April, my workshops come home with a special two-day Seattle event focused on helping you find YOUR creative vision! This was such a success last time that we are doing it again and I can’t wait to share what the Pacific Northwest has to offer.
We will kick things off with a meet and greet at my home with Hors d’oeuvres and beverages. I’ll also be sharing photos and stories from my latest book Wild Lives. The following day we’ll be off and running, with lectures, field sessions and critiques – all with the purpose of helping you find and/or hone the personal creative point of view that will allow your photos to stand out.
As we get closer to the event, spots will fill quickly – reserve yours today!
2024 is on the horizon, and it’s time to think about where you might want to travel! New locations as well as return favorites are on the slate, with several trips highlighting locations where I captured just some of the hundreds of photos you’ll see in my latest book, WILD LIVES. From Alaska to the Pantanal, there’s something for everyone – including two much-requested tours in New Zealand.
For anyone looking to join an upcoming workshop here in the Pacific Northwest, I’ve extended the early bird savings on some upcoming workshops though the weekend – save a couple hundred bucks and join me in one of two very different locations!
The first opportunity begins August 17th, with a small group photography retreat on the Oregon Coast. While I’m often leading a group in Abstract Astoria, this is an opportunity to explore new locations in a small-group setting of five travelers. While any workshop I lead will include a healthy dose of finding abstractions and unique points of view, this one will focus more on the breathtaking seaside landscapes that the coast has to offer.
The following trip brings us inland, to the Palouse of Eastern Washington. Often referred to as “The American Tuscany”, the Palouse is home to breathtaking landscapes, turn-of-the-century farms and rolling hills of gold under blue skies. It really couldn’t be much different from the mossy, rocky, misty shores of Oregon. I’m looking forward to the juxtaposition of exploring these varied locations back to back!
All of this follows my Katmai bear workshops, both of which only have one or two spots left available – make this year your year to go and claim one of them and capture your own amazing shots of one of America’s signature wildlife attractions.
If I don’t see you on a workshop, have a fantastic summer! If you need inspiration for photography goals, peruse the blog – I’m sure you’ll find something to spark an idea!
I’m happy to have a full slate of upcoming workshops on the calendar for your perusal – from the great Smoky Mountains to here in the Northwest, abstract workshops and nature retreats abound! Sign up today, save a few hundred bucks, and I’ll see you there!
Lots of fish, lots of bears, lots of action—what else would you expect from a couple weeks in Katmai National Park!? The cubs are always precious but this year they were FEISTY! We enjoyed watching and photographing one group of three siblings get in a row over a fish as mamma bear looked on. The two bigger cubs went at it, while the third smaller cub sneaked in and made off with the fish. Live and learn!
2023’s Katmai Bears workshops are up and there are a few spots available. If you anticipate that you might want to join, don’t hesitate to sign up, as they generally fill up faster than your average workshop! Who’s with me?!
It’s Wildlife Workshop Wednesday! I have several upcoming photo journeys which will have great wildlife viewing opportunities: Madagascar, Mongolia, Katmai Alaska, Botswana, Namibia, Mount Rainier, Japan, and Glacier Bay Alaska. Join me on a trip – visit the events page or click on a specific trip below for more information!
