Art Wolfe Live Kicks Off Next Tuesday!

I’ve been busy lately – leading workshops, working on books, and of course working in the yard. That being said I’ve missed Tequila Time and being able to connect with everyone live. While logistically speaking, having a weekly live stream simply isn’t feasible, it’s my goal to bring you monthly stories and lessons from the previous 30 days of shooting and my take on current events as they relate to travel and photography.

To that end I’m happy to announce that Art Wolfe LIVE will kick off next Tuesday, September 28th at 6 pm Pacific, 9 pm Eastern on Facebook Live and YouTube!

Returning for the inaugural episode will be Earth Is Our Witness host Parimal Deshpande. I have a quick video treat from my trip to Iceland to share and comment on, and lessons from that same trip to share – and more! Tell your friends, hope to see you there!

#WorkshopWednesday – The Art Of Seeing in Seattle – October 1-3!

Just a couple weeks left until I open the doors of my home & garden to the group joining me in Seattle for my lecture, field session, and critique under the umbrella of The Art Of Seeing! Before this two-day workshop kicks off, join me on a Friday evening at my home in West Seattle for beverages and hors d’oeuvres as well as an exclusive look at my upcoming book, Night On Earth.

Over the course of this two-day workshop I’ll present lectures infused with lessons from Art History as well as my own hands-on five decades of experience as an artist, photographer, instructor, and world traveler. Then, we will take those lessons out into the field for shooting sessions – see how I work on location and the simple but effective ways to change your approach and perspective to come away with unique shots that speak to your own personal artistic vision!

Finally we will wrap it all up with what tends to be a participant favorite session – the critique, where I’ll take a look at your images from throughout the weekend and give my advice on how they might be improved, or recognition of a job well done, along with answering the “why” in each instance.

Hope to see you there! Space is limited as we allow for room for social distancing. Please note – to keep myself and my assistance safe and to streamline the process of acquiring venues and accommodations, we ask that all workshop participants be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

Greetings From Iceland – Announcing Art Wolfe Live!

Greetings from Iceland! I’m still out and about here and have yet to really dive into editing. I figured I could whet your appetite with a small preview of what’s to come when I return and have the time to go back through all the great shots on this trip.

The weather hasn’t always been ideal, but our group has stepped up to the challenge; a little adversity is how we learn and grow.

I would also like to take this moment to announce that at the end of September will mark the return of my live broadcasts, so if you’ve missed Tequila Time and just can’t wait for more candid shenanigans and honest-to-goodness insights from yours truly, rest assured I’ll be back live on YouTube & Facebook!

Art Wolfe Live, or “AWL” as I suppose we will call it, wont be as frequent as Tequila Time with my travel schedule and other obligations, but the goal is to do it monthly at the very least. I simply don’t want to create an unsustainable format. I do however miss the live streams and connecting with everyone.

Not only will AWL be a way to connect with everyone on a monthly basis and talk about what I’ve been up to, I also intend to discuss current events and other important topics that aren’t solely related to my work.

Art Wolfe Live will kick off September 28th!

#FridayFeeling – Plenty of Workshops on the Horizon!

Happy Friday! Currently packing for a couple tours in Katmai, and I can’t wait to get out there with our group. I missed this last year, so it’ll be great to get back to it – and good to see our associates on the ground here as well that help our workshops run smoothly!

In the immediate future, there are limited spots left for both the Abstract Port Townsend and Iceland tours happening in August. Two very different experiences! Iceland has been filling up incredibly fast for being a new addition, so if it’s a trip you’ve been thinking about – now is the time!

it’s also a good time to be looking ahead to next year. I’ll be back here in Alaska – so if you missed it this year before they sold out, you’ve got another chance with lots of time to prepare, but don’t hesitate to grab your spot as these always sell out. I’ll also be heading to Japan, Africa, and Mongolia next year as well. Lets go shoot!

Join the Online EIOW Anniversary Party!

It’s hard to believe that it’s been over a year now since Parimal started Earth Is Our Witness – an opportunity to speak and connect with photographers from all around the world, whom all have a passion for the way that photography connects humanity and our planet. We’ve seen some beyond-belief photos only to heart he very real stories behind them; some tragic, many epic – but all with the overlying theme that we are connected and in the end, not so different in our dreams and aspirations.

Given the complexity of locations, schedules, and time zones it’s been no small feat for Parimal to get many of the EIOW alum together for a couple of zoom reunion parties, and you’re welcome to join!

SESSION 1 – Friday, June 25, 6 pm PST / 9 pm EST
SESSION 2 – Sunday, June 27, 10 am PST / 1 pm EST

Join the live stream at these times, or if you’re not able to make it they will be there to view later. Of course, joining live means you wont miss a thing and can also participate in the live Q&A!

On YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/c/EARTHISOURWITNESS
On Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/earthisourwitness

If you can make it and support EIOW and all of the hard work that Parimal has put into it, we would love to see you there live – tell your friends, tell your family, check out amazing photos and hear the stories behind them.

Happy Father’s Day from Art Wolfe!

Happy Father’s day to all the dads out there!

I’ll avoid the clichés that we’ve heard all year long – eyes focused on moving forward to the next great challenge! We have overcome a lot, so everyone here at the AWI office is happy that families are able to begin to gather safely once again.

If you’re still struggling to find dad that perfect gift, give my events page a look as we have several workshops on the horizon, both here in the Pacific Northwest and abroad! If dad happens to be a photography enthusiast and is tired of being cooped up, what could be better than learning and enjoying a Tequila at dinner with his new pal Art!?

There is also early bird pricing on a special event this October I’ve titled simply Creative Sessions” that will take place in my home town of Seattle. This event will begin with a Friday evening gathering at my home in West Seattle with food, beverages, and a special presentation followed by a day of lecture before being released to independently shoot. We will reconvene on the following day for another lecture and critique.

Have a fantastic weekend – get out and shoot!

Limited Space Available In Upcoming West Coast Workshops!

Recently vaccinated and ready to get out? We are coming up on the final stretch of West Coast workshops, with limited space left to join me at several haunts up and down the shores of the Pacific. Today begins our Carmel-By-The-Sea workshop – probably too late for this one!

One spot HAS in fact opened up for the ever-popular Abstract Astoria workshop happening next week. It WILL be claimed so act fast if you want it.

On June 17th we head to the Columbia River Gorge that serves as a natural border between Washington and Oregon, home to breathtaking landscapes, several waterfalls and a wide variety of opportunities to photograph both nature and abstract images.

Finally, a little further out at the end of July we will be returning to Port Townsend for another Abstract workshop – this new location serves as an excellent companion to Abstract Astoria, and it’s fast becoming a favorite of our clients. Limited to just five participants, this is an excellent opportunity to get some one on one instruction.

I’m thrilled to be back in the field but I also can’t wait until I’m back home and can reconnect with everyone on another live stream – stay tuned for info on when that will be happening again. Visit the events page for information on all upcoming international & US workshops, and have a fantastic weekend!

Join Art on the Majestic Redwoods Photo Retreat!

The redwoods, once seen, leave a mark or create a vision that stays with you always.

— John Steinbeck

Space is still available to join me on our Majestic Redwoods Photography Retreat, taking place at the end of this month! Come along and make some new friends who share your love of photography in one of the most iconic forests in all the world, where these trees – some a millennia old – tower over the beautiful California coast.

Of course this is an ART WOLFE workshop, so while we will line up and grab the token travel shots that exclaim, “I was here!” along with all the other tourists – we will go much much deeper in exploring this land – the same land that has drawn explorers and naturalists throughout history to it’s unique and massive canopy over the centuries. From the forest to the coast, we will mine this location for opportunities to set our photography apart from the pack, enhancing your creative eye with lessons that will serve you no matter the subject.

Space is limited and these workshops tend to fill up quickly the closer we get – don’t wait too long to sign up and miss out! Of course, all of my workshops are Covid compliant, and your health, safety, and enjoyment of our time together is top of mind.

Hope to see you on my Majestic Redwoods Photo Retreat!

“Tequila Time” Evolves into “Live With Art Wolfe”!

In case you missed last night’s episode of Tequila Time (which is possible considering some technical difficulties and a late start!), my usual co-host Parimal Deshpande wowed us with more photos from his homeland of India, currently facing a pandemic crisis. His message that the beauty, humanity, and symbiotic nature of India and it’s people will lead them past this tragedy is timely for us all as we look to move forward. If you missed it, check out his presentation!

Prior to Tequila Time, Tom Mangelsen joined us on Earth Is Our Witness to discuss his Legacy Reserve Collection and the stories behind some of his most impactful wildlife shots – if you missed it, check it out on the EIOW Facebook & YouTube pages – and don’t forget to give EIOW a follow on Instagram to see galleries of all of the EIOW Alum’s work.

Last but not least, we made an important announcement last night regarding the future of Tequila Time and my live broadcasts. Tequila Time was an excellent way for us to stay in touch, and I hope that it helped if even in some small way for folks to find an easier time navigating a strange year or more.

Now that things are returning to a bit of normalcy, we want to make sure that our live broadcasts are relevant and informative and ever-evolving. To that end, we will be evolving Tequila Time into a new live feature we will call simply, “Art Wolfe Live!”. This should not only help save my body some extra wear and tear from the extra tequila – but will also be a more planned and intentional broadcast, featuring my perspective on current important world events, highlighting what we are up to here at the AWI office and out on workshops, and of course a Q&A session to answer all your burning questions!

Stay tuned for Art Wolfe Live this August! Prior to the inaugural episode, we’ll also be reaching out for Q&A questions – keep an eye out to submit yours!
