This is the last month to go and visit this great show at the BURKE MUSEUM. The show ends on November 25th.
I recently revisited the show and took a few candid shots of the exhibit. I continue to be impressed with the content of the images and the overall high-quality of this well designed show. Lots of school children have visited the show and there was a group in the museum when I was there. The kids loved it and were very attentive and interested.
You can look at the images online, but I highly recommend a visit to the museum for the full exhibit experience. It is really worth it!

The Burke Museum will once again exhibit the winners of the International Conservation Photography Awards, a biennial juried competition initiated in 1997 by acclaimed local nature photographer, Art Wolfe.
Over 75 photos were chosen from more than 1500 images submitted by amateur and professional photographers from across the globe. The photographs are conservation-focused, chosen in categories such as Wildlife, Landscape, Underwater, and Community at Risk, which focuses on environmental threats to urban areas. Capturing beautiful moments in the natural world, the photos connect us to the tiniest of creatures and enormous environmental changes. The competition and its award-winning photos inspire, educate, and encourage us all to consider our impacts on the world’s natural resources.
A panel of five judges selected winning photographs in each of the nine categories. The winning photographs will be announced on Opening Day, June 30. Four of the honored photographers will speak about their work, photographic techniques, and passion for conservation on the hour between 11 am and 2 pm on June 30. Judges from the panel will offer visitors guided tours of the exhibit. Check the Burke Museum’s website for a full schedule and details.
For the first time, the Burke and the International Conservation Photography Awards will also collaborate to create a traveling exhibit, which will include the top 25 first- and second-place winners.
The 2012 International Conservation Photography Awards exhibit is organized by the Burke Museum in partnership with the ICP Awards. The 2012 International Conservation Photography Awards (ICPA) are under way today, December 1, 2011. Submissions are now being accepted until February 29, 2012.
This Photography Awards program was conceived and started by Art Wolfe. Watch and listen to his invitation and consider submitting your work and contributing to this showcase program for conservation.

Opening Day: International Conservation Photography Awards

Seattle – A new summer exhibit at the Burke Museum opens on June 19 and will present the winning photographs and honorable mentions from the 2010 International Conservation Photography Awards (ICP Awards). The exhibit will remain on view until September 6, 2010.
On Opening Day, the Burke Museum will host renowned conservation photographer Art Wolfe for two afternoon talks titled “The Spirit of Conservation Photography.” Over the course of his 30-year career, Wolfe has captured stunning images of the world’s fast-disappearing wildlife, landscapes, and cultures. 1997, Wolfe established the The International Conservation Photography Awards competition and has served as its guiding force ever since.
Also on Opening Day, Cynthia Hall, ICP Awards juror, will lead informal tours of the exhibit and discuss her responses to the photographs and address the question, “what makes a photograph award winning?”

International Conservation Photography Awards features over 75 of the best in conservation photographs from around the world in the following categories: Landscape, Flora, Wildlife, Underwater, Environment at Risk, Student, Community at Risk, which focuses on environmental threats to urban areas, Documenting a Conservation Project, which features images from photographers who have personal involvement in an ongoing conservation project, and Puget Sound at Risk, a regional category sponsored by the Puget Soundkeeper Alliance.
The International Conservation Photography Awards (ICP Awards) is a premier worldwide photography event focused on conservation and the environment. The biennial juried photo competition, along with awarding cash and merchandise to selected photographers, will include an online exhibit, a 3-month museum gallery exhibit at the prestigious Burke Museum of Natural History and Culture in Seattle, Washington, publication in a national photography magazine and other printed communications, and a slide show for use in community outreach and global on-line entertainment/education. Hurry, the deadline is quickly approaching – February 28th, 2010.
