The season is upon us to reflect and give thanks. Rising at 4am, I photographed this tree on the shore of Japan’s tranquil Lake Biwa.

November’s print of the month is a panoramic. While in Grand Teton National Park recently I was able to photograph this moose cow and calf hidden in an aspen grove. Moose love feeding on the sweet shoots and bark of aspens.

An active volcano, Mount Rainier is the icon of Washington state and the entire Pacific Northwest. The national park is a favorite destination of mine and I’ll never tire of shooting there. At sunrise the peak was initially obscured in fog; as the sun came up it broke, giving me a misty, moody reflection that only adds to the already dramatic vista.

Sunlight filters through early morning mist in the forests of Washington State’s Mount Rainier National Park. I was particularly taken with the soothing atmospheric tones, the lacy geometry of the alpine firs, and the subtle shadows and layering of this new print.

Built on a mountain ledge with spectacular views, the Shanti Stupa in Leh, India, is situated at a breathtaking 13,999 feet elevation. Enshrined in its base are relics of the Buddha. It is a Peace Pagoda, built by the Japanese and Ladakh Buddhists to promote world peace and commemorate 2500 years of Buddhism.
