Photos from Hanoi

NEW! Hanoi, Vietnam – Images by Art Wolfe

These photos are from two extended walks that I lead our group on throughout the city of Hanoi. They are representational of a constant theme that I am teaching my travel companions – how to create intriguing compositions out of everyday life events. In this series of photographs you will see everything from the frantic traffic to the very quiet and peaceful details. Enjoy.

These are really great! And all on only two walks!

It makes me wonder about getting permission for portraits. Do you ask before taking pictures of people? The two girls with red hats, what did you tell them to get that shot? Do you get releases or contact information so you can sell their photo? How did the photographer for the wedding react to your images of him?

I love how these photos are great to look at, but also tell interesting stories in each one.

      Hi Kate,

I can tell you from personal experience that Art always asks for permission, whether it be through a simple gesture of the camera and a smile or through an interpreter, he never will sneak an image. He very rarely obtains a release because most if his uses are editorial in nature, and those uses do not require releases. If it were something that he was specifically targeting for an advertisement he would in fact obtain a model release or a property release for that matter. Thanks for the questions and comments on the blog we really appreciate it.

      Cheers,

      Jay Goodrich

    NICE!

I’m digging the slow shutter speed work.
