Beluga whales, Somerset Island, Canada

I made the arrangements with the Canadian Wildlife Department to fly above these beluga whales long before I departed for Canada. When the day arrived, we circled over the whales in a twin-otter plane. The pilot skillfully slowed the aircraft to sixty miles per hour, allowing me to get this shot. Above the shoreline of Somerset Island in the Canadian Arctic, an aerial perspective confirmed the arrival of nearly two thousand whales, a number impossible to witness from sea level.
