Botswana’s Okavango Delta was the 1000th site to be officially inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. This huge inland delta formed by the Okavango River does not flow into any ocean, instead it spreads over a 15000 sq. km. area. Here elephants ford a marshy section of the river.
