Artemis Gallery Art Walk – See My Work In Person!

I am pleased to announce that you can now see a few of my favorite images displayed at the Artemis Fine Art Gallery in La Jolla, California. Opening just last summer, the gallery focuses on themes of conservation and the Earth’s beauty and a portion of sales benefits environmental organizations. In ancient civilizations Artemis was the goddess of conservation and the gallery represents artists who share an appreciation for nature and a desire to protect our planet.

On March 4th Artemis will be open for First Friday Art Walk. If you are in the area, please drop by to see the latest arrivals and enjoy light refreshments!

Free parking is available!

Based in Germany with clients worldwide, The Art of Wild Gallery is very proud and happy to represent many of the images of my Human Canvas project. I feel the Human Canvas is the culmination of my artistic endeavors, a body of work that combines my work with traditional cultures, camouflage, and art into a photographic whole.
Using art and its presentation as a vehicle of analysis, inspiration and emotional engagement The Art of Wild Gallery contributes to the discourse about the relationship between man and nature. Presenting a high-class selection of well-curated, visually stimulating and thoughtful bodies of work and artists that focus on this relationship, The Art of Wild Gallery wishes to accentuate art’s role in reflecting critically, emotionally and creatively to a changing world.

Photos & Video from Hamburg’s Vanishing Act Exhibit

This past week took me to Hamburg, Germany for the opening of the Meisterhaft Getarnt – or Vanishing Act – exhibit in the city’s Überseequartier. Meisterhaft Getarnt Open Air Exhibit in Hamburg Opens Tomorrow!

I’m heading off to Germany today to celebrate the opening of “Meisterhaft-Getarnt”; translated – “Masterfully Disguised”, an exhibition of my work from Vanishing Act, in Hamburg’s Überseequartier. This open-air gallery exhibit will highlight my primary goal with Vanishing act – capturing animals at home in their natural habitat, blending in with their surroundings for survival.

The exhibit runs from March 30th to June 30th, 24 hours a day and admission is free. I will be in attendance tomorrow, March 30th at 6 PM local time.

Earth is My Witness at MUNDOlogia 2017

I’m fortunate to have been invited to speak this coming weekend at the 14th annual MUNDOlogia festival in Freiburg, Germany where I will be presenting Earth is My Witness. Two of my most memorable trips in 2016 were to present Witness in Germany, where I always receive a warm welcome. Last year when presenting in Schleswig, I was privileged enough to sign the Golden Book of the City, an unexpected and much appreciated honor.

The festival runs through the weekend, and I will be presenting on Saturday the 4th at 4 PM local time at Konzerthaus Freiburg.

From LA to London!

This trip has been a whirlwind of images and ideas. It started at the Andrei Duman Gallery, where I have ten prints hanging for the next two months. Not only is the Duman Gallery remarkable for its fine art print selection, it has won awards for its unique design. After a day spent with friends and casual photography in Venice Beach, I presented my Photography As Art seminar to a good crowd.

I then headed off to London to the Remembering Elephants opening at the La Galleria Pall Mall, which runs through October 1. This was followed by the keynote and book launch at the Royal Geographical Society with the Born Free Foundation. I give a hearty thanks to Margot Raggett, who has worked tirelessly on the Remembering Elephants project with 65 photographers for the last two years!

I’m back in town for a few days, but for those of you in or around the Denver area, I’ll be presenting Photography As Art there this coming Sunday!

Earth Is My Witness Exhibition News

Last week’s opening of the Earth Is My Witness exhibit at the Stadtmuseum Schleswig was a rousing success. The visit was unfortunately short because of my workshop schedule, but I was able to get a lot in. Along with the opening of the exhibit, I met with sponsors, had a meet and greet with National Geographic readers, presented a lecture, and signed the Golden Book of the City. What an honor it was and this old heart was truly warmed by the amazing reception.

The exhibit runs through October 30th.

Earth Is My Witness Exhibit Opening at Stadtmuseum Schleswig

SMSL-Anzeige Art Wolfe MM 184x265mm.indd

I am very excited to be opening the latest Earth Is My Witness Exhibit on June 2 at the Stadtmuseum Schleswig in Schleswig, Germany. I will giving a presentation on June 3rd at 8pm at the A. P. Moller-Skolen. Tickets can be purchased by emailing  stadtmuseum@schleswig.de. The exhibit runs June 3-October 30.

With his “Earth Is My Witness” project, Art Wolfe presents the highlights of his long experience in photography for the first time in a major retrospective. It is the most comprehensive presentation of his work that has ever been exhibited and it demonstrates his boundless curiosity about the world. The spectrum ranges from exotic themes in subtropical climes, such as a colorful camel market in the Indian town of Pushkar, to the most inhospitable regions on our planet including, for example, the moment at which a polar bear mother and her cubs leave the ice cave after hibernation.

Very few other photo artists can match Art Wolfe who, time and again, comes up with pictures which not only tell a gripping story, but also become icons. Perhaps it is his instinct for just the right moment, the perfect light, the creative use of state-of-the-art exposure technique, and the dialog with his subjects. Art Wolfe’s expertise is impressively demonstrated in the retrospective “Earth Is My Witness”.

The exhibition is an exclusive production by the Städtische Galerie Iserlohn and the Stadtmuseum Schleswig together with the artist. It opens on February 11, 2016 in Iserlohn where it will be open to the public until May 1, 2016. After that, the exhibition will move to the municipal museum in Schleswig and can be seen there from June 2 (opening) to October 30, 2016.
